Email support@prayukta.com. Tell us your Arci version (select Arci in Applications and choose File → Get Info), your macOS version, what you did, and what you expected to happen.
Installing Arci
Arci needs macOS 26 or later on a Mac with Apple silicon. Open the disk image, drag Arci into Applications, and open it from there. Arci is signed by its developer and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it after the usual "downloaded from the internet" question. Keep it in Applications: that's where Arci can update itself.
Updates
Arci looks for a new version when it starts and once a day. When there is one, you'll see it in Arci's menu-bar menu and in Settings → General → Updates; choose Install and Relaunch. If Arci says it can't update itself, it's running from somewhere other than Applications: move it there and open it again. You can always download the newest version too.
Arci Doesn't Open with My Shortcut
- Open Arci from Applications: if no shortcut is set, Settings opens. Record one in General → Summon shortcut.
- Another app or macOS may own that combination. Try another, such as ⌥Space. For ⌘Space, first turn off Spotlight's shortcut in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Spotlight.
An Action Says It Needs a Permission
Reading selected text and pasting need Accessibility; reading text from the screen needs Screen Recording. Arci takes you to the right place in System Settings — turn Arci on there, then run the action again. Screen Recording works only after Arci reopens, so choose Quit & Reopen when macOS asks. If Arci already shows as on and the action still asks, remove Arci from the list with −, run the action again and switch it on. Settings → Permissions shows what Arci has. More about permissions.
My Actions Stopped Working
If Settings → Actions says actions.json has a syntax error, Arci is running its built-in defaults until the file is fixed — a missing comma or quote is the usual cause. An action with an unknown type or a missing field is skipped on its own. The actions reference lists every field; actions.json.bak beside the file is the version before Arci last added a built-in action.
AI Isn't Answering
- On-device AI needs Apple Intelligence, turned on in System Settings, on a Mac that supports it. Settings → AI shows its status.
- With your own key, check it in Settings → AI, and that your account with the provider has credit.
Arci Builder
- Describe an action in Settings → Actions and press Build. Arci shows you the change, and nothing is saved until you apply it.
- Free Arci includes 20 builds a month; the Builder shows how many are left. They start again on the 1st of each month.
- If Arci says it can't reach the Builder, check your internet connection and try again. You can always write actions yourself with the actions guide.
Arci Pro
Arci Pro is coming soon. It will add unlimited action building, AI Search without a key of your own, unlimited notes and longer clipboard history. Everything in free Arci works today. Email us to hear when Pro launches, or see pricing.
Supporting Arci
Arci is free, and the core of it stays free. It's made independently by Vinod at Prayukta, in Bengaluru. If it saves you time, you can buy Vinod a coffee, once or every month. A coffee is a thank-you: it doesn't unlock anything, isn't an Arci Pro license, and Arci works the same either way.
Your Data
Everything Arci keeps is on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Arci; Settings → History and Settings → Clipboard clear history and clipboard history. The privacy policy lists every file and everything Arci sends. To uninstall, see Getting started.
